Xingshu Plan

This project focuses on a constellation of satellites for computing in space.

Xingshu is a Shanghai initiative for onboard data processing and on-demand computing, with an initial three-satellite validation cluster proposed. Fudan identifies Taiyi as lead developer of the remote-sensing satellite, Fudan Optoelectronics-1, working with Fudan and East China Normal University. Its announced 2 POPs compute specification is a design capability; cluster deployment and in-orbit performance remain unverified.

Compute performance
2 POPsPlannedAnnounced design compute of Fudan Optoelectronics-1, the ultra-low-orbit remote-sensing satellite in the initial Xingshu cluster
Evidence & scope

Fudan prints the native unit as 2POPs. Computational precision, operation type and sustained performance are not specified. This applies only to the remote-sensing satellite under development, not the central computing satellite or total constellation. No launched or demonstrated throughput is established; do not convert to PFLOPS.

WHAT REMAINS UNKNOWN
  • The complete initial cluster's launch date, launch contract and verified in-orbit results are not established.
  • Fudan links the Fuxi weather constellation to Xingshu and targets Fuxi-1 before March 2027; that is not a confirmed launch date for the entire Xingshu cluster.
  • The reported wider roadmap describes 2 computing plus 12 edge satellites for engineering validation, 50 plus 100 for commercial deployment, and a long-term thousand-satellite ambition. These distinct stages are not additive committed or operating capacity.
  • The remote-sensing satellite's announced 2 POPs specification does not disclose computational precision or achieved performance. The central computing satellite's processor configuration, precision-qualified performance, power and optical-link specifications still require retrievable primary technical evidence.
  • Taiyi-led remote-sensing satellite development and ECNU research participation are identified. Legal purchasing parties, supplier contract awards and values, remaining component allocations and committed deployment financing are not established. Ecosystem membership does not establish a supplier award.
