Tiansuan / BUPT Orbital Computing Research Platform
This project focuses on an open platform for orbital computing research.
BUPT's Tiansuan platform supports research code and space-server experiments on real satellites. BUPT-2/3 launched in May 2025 with university-developed servers and communications payloads; BUPT-4 followed in July 2026 with computing and satellite-network security modules. This is an open research program with a planned 24-satellite second phase, not a verified 24-satellite fleet or commercial data-center service. The October 10 CCF and ReedPilot program account reports cumulative deployment of 16 low-orbit satellites and seven ground stations, supporting experiments by more than 60 organizations. These attributed totals do not establish current availability or a completed 24-satellite fleet.

Per-node compute, memory and IT power remain undisclosed in those sources. Last full profile review 18 Oct 2026. Primary body last observed 18 Oct, 06:48 UTC. Source monitoring: unavailable. Source collection and substantive profile review are separate checks. Plans and dates may change.
CCF and ReedPilot report 16 deployed satellites and seven ground stations, and open seven research topics with applications due November 30. No grant recipients or new deployment dates are identified.
The project repository describes an open orbital research platform, application review and code deployment on actual satellites. It identifies BUPT-1 as available, while its old 2024 forecast for BUPT-2/3 is superseded by the 2025 launch report.
Huairou Science City reports Xingyuan solar wings supplying BUPT-4’s full spacecraft electrical load with stable operation. The article date differs from the July 22 launch and July 30 earlier report. Separate 100 kW R&D is not BUPT-4 capacity.
A release attributed to Beijing Xingyuan Space Technology reports its solar wings supplying BUPT-4 in orbit. Its separate future 100 kW development ambition is not a BUPT-4 power specification.
The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area confirms Gravity-1 Y4 launched nine satellites on 22 July 2026, including Tianyi-49; separate primary evidence identifies Tianyi-49 as BUPT-4.
BUPT's own account hosted by Beijing Daily confirms satellite-computing and satellite-network security modules. Onboard computing, security and space–ground cooperation tests are planned; no numerical compute result is supplied.
