QI2S onboard hyperspectral-processing research
This project focuses on onboard-computing research demonstrator.
QI2S developed a laboratory prototype for onboard hyperspectral image interpretation during its 2013–2015 FP7 research period. CORDIS reports TRL4 and a downscaled FPGA implementation because the full RC64 chip was still being developed separately. The project received a EUR1,883,170 EU contribution. Its ground demonstrator and future chip estimates do not establish a launched QI2S payload or operational orbital service.
Elbit Systems Electro-Optics Elop-led FP7 consortium · Completed laboratory research
Scope: Enabling research · Named enabling onboard-processing hardware/software research with laboratory validation, without a defined shared orbital platform.
Figures retain their disclosed units and scope. Launched hardware does not establish demonstrated performance; targets may change. Not disclosed means no figure in the reviewed sources.

Listed participant in QI2S grant313105 for laboratory onboard hyperspectral-processing research.
CORDIS lists historical name Ramon Chips. Israel Space Agency confirms the former-name identity. Research participation and component provenance do not establish a separate supply purchase.
Announced Publication date not supplied · Evidence checked 31 Oct 2026
The project is closed. No QI2S flight demonstration or dated follow-on deployment is established by the final report.
Manual review 31 Oct 2026. Compared CORDIS objectives, final implementation, readiness, grant and participants. Kept the FPGA laboratory configuration separate from full RC64 component targets and generic processor comparisons. No orbital result is established. Primary body last observed not available. Source monitoring: partial. Source collection and substantive profile review are separate checks. Plans and dates may change.
No launched QI2S payload, orbit, flight provider or operating service is established.
Prototype-specific electrical power, thermal limits, mass, dimensions and radiation qualification are not quantified in the inspected report.
The full RC64 component was under development elsewhere. Its targets and conflicting20-versus 38 GFLOPS descriptions are not achieved QI2S prototype performance.
Grant signature date is not supplied in the inspected fact sheet. Total project cost is distinct from the EU contribution.
