BEACON CubeRover lunar AI demonstration

This project focuses on lunar rover computing demonstration.

BEACON pairs Astrobotic's CubeRover-1 with Mission Control's Spacefarer operations platform and planned Spacefarer AI onboard-machine-learning demonstration. Astrobotic reported rover acceptance testing in June2025 and BEACON integration with Griffin-1 in June2026. The later provider timeline targets a late-2026 launch to the lunar south pole. Integration and flight-readiness reports do not establish a launch, landing or completed lunar AI result.

Astrobotic and Mission Control Space Services · Integrated for a planned lunar mission

Scope: Mission-specific processing · Computing and AI primarily serve the rover's own surface perception, commanding, navigation and experiments.

NEXT MILESTONE

Planned Griffin-1 launch in late2026, followed by deployment and lunar commanding, navigation and onboard-AI demonstrations if landing succeeds.

Manual review 31 Oct 2026. Compared both mission partners' listings, dated testing/integration accounts and named public-support roles. Preserved delayed launch chronology and distinct shared-lander payloads. Completed ground testing does not establish lunar AI results, and individual support amounts/dates remain unknown. Primary body last observed not available. Source monitoring: partial. Source collection and substantive profile review are separate checks. Plans and dates may change.

WHAT REMAINS UNKNOWN
  • Installed processor/accelerator model, count, arithmetic throughput and precision, RAM/storage, IT power and numerical thermal limits are not disclosed in the inspected mission accounts.
  • Exact launch, landing and operational results remain unverified future events.
  • CSA LEAP and NASA SBIR support are named, but project-specific amounts, grant identifiers and award dates are not provided.
  • The CubeRover/BEACON rover and FLIP/SBC-4 payload share the Griffin-1 lander. They are distinct rovers, not additional Griffin spacecraft.
